Visakhapatnam: Anganwadi workers on Monday took out a huge rally in the city demanding payment of minimum wages. The rally commenced from the Saraswati Park and reached the Collectorate where the police blocked its forward march. The rallyists raised slogans against the police and resented the attitude of the government. They recalled that the Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy had promised payment of higher wages to them during the Padayatra before the elections and lamented that the welfare schemes were not being implemented for them. They demanded the government to respond positively in the matter and implement the minimum wages Act for them.
