ANMs decry workload; to stage dharna in Hyderabad
ANMs to stage protest in Hyderabad demanding relief from heavy workloads and multiple targets. The union alleged that officials are harassing ANMs with excessive tasks, Aadhaar-linked attendance rules, and unrealistic completion goals, causing severe health issues
Hyderabad: Auxiliary Nurse Midwives (ANMs) across multiple health departments are participating in a dharna on Thursday at the office of the Commissioner of Family Welfare, Koti, over a slew of grievances and demands.
“We are expressing our distress over immense pressure that officials across the State are putting on ANMs by assigning them multiple and simultaneous targets. ANMs are being harassed mentally by being asked to achieve 100 per cent completion of targets. As a result, all the ANMs are suffering from severe health issues while performing their duties,” Telangana United Medical and Health Employees Union Secretary Yada Naik said.
In the last few months, officials have been putting excessive pressure on ANMs in all districts to complete NCD (Non-Communicable Diseases) tasks, mark attendance through Aadhaar-based attendance system, and immediately complete all other programmes, he said.
