Anti-Corruption Bureau arrests Panchayat Raj Engineering-in-Chief for accepting Rs 50,000 bribe in Hyderabad

ACB officials caught the Engineering-in-Chief of the Panchayat Raj Department, Veeravalli Kanakaratnam, red-handed while accepting a Rs 50,000 bribe for a transfer posting. The bribe was recovered, and a chemical test confirmed contact. He was arrested and is being presented in court

Hyderabad: The Anti-Corruption Bureau officials trapped the Engineering-in-Chief of the Panchayat Raj Department red-handed when he demanded and accepted a bribe of Rs 50,000 for official work.

Veeravalli Kanakaratnam had demanded the amount from an employee ‘for transfer and giving posting,’ said the ACB official.

The bribe amount was recovered from him. The left-hand fingers of the official yielded positive in a chemical test.

The official was arrested and is being produced before the court.
