Suryapet: Superintendent of Police S Rajendra Prasad on Sunday said that anti-drug and anti-narcotic squads would be set up in the educational institutions in the district.
Speaking at a review meeting held in the District Police Office, Rajendra Prasad said that a meeting would be held with the managements of educational institutions, officials of the Revenue and Excise Department to check the drugs and ganja menace. Anti-drugs and anti-narcotics squads would be selected by teachers and students in the colleges to keep an eagle eye on the movements of suspicious persons near the educational institutions.
He reminded us that the State government was working with a target of turning Telangana into drugs and ganja free-State. Every person had a responsibility to turn the goal into reality. He also instructed the police officials to keep a close watch on tea stalls, hotels, industrial areas, abandoned buildings and labour addas, which would be chosen as places for selling drugs. He warned that stringent action would be taken against those who would involve in the transportation and sale of drugs and ganja.
Stating that people would come to police stations with a lot of hope of getting justice, he directed the police officials to behave respectfully with them and instill confidence in them that their issues would be resolved. Then only, police would get a good reputation in the public, he added.
The police should act tough on illegal activities within the limits of their police stations. He said that proper investigation would ensure punishment to the culprits in the courts, which would also help in reducing the crimes. He has also underlined the need to create awareness in the people on community CCTV cameras concept.
