Visakhapatnam: Fisheries department has restricted entry into the fishing harbour only for passholders consequent on Covid norm violations by some at the premises.

Already, 1,000 entry passes were issued and those eligible could apply for the passes, Fisheries department joint director K. Phani Prakash said here on Saturday. Two gates were set up at the entrance and the assistance of police was being sought to regulate visitors and also for surveillance, he revealed.

The fishing harbour is always found overcrowded, particularly during weekends and the people jostling at the place was prominently shown in the media in recent times which has prompted the department to restrict entry only for passholders for the first time.
