Kothagudem: The top Maoist Commander Madivi Hidma, his wife Raje and their associates were captured unarmed and killed in a fake encounter by Andhra Pradesh police, alleged the CPI (Maoist) party Central Committee spokesperson Abhay.

In a statement released to the media on Friday, he said that Hidma, along with his wife and others, visited Vijayawada for medical treatment at a local hospital. Some traitors leaked his whereabouts to police, and on November 15 took Hidma and others into custody at the hospital.

Later, the police killed Hidma and others in the Maredumilli forests by Andhra SIB under Union Home Ministry direction. Following his killing, a false narrative was spread through media that he was killed in an encounter and firearms were seized from him, Abhay alleged.

Similarly, the Maoist AOB State Committee member Tech Shanker and others were also caught before being killed in a fake encounter at Rampachodavaram. The BJP government at the Centre was carrying out fascist atrocities against common people and killing Maoists to benefit corporate forces, he complained.

Sharing Hidma’s personal details, the statement said that he was born in a poor adivasi family at Puvarthi in 1974 and studied up to fifth standard. He joined the Maoists in 1997 as a full-time cadre, working in Basaguda dalam until 1998, worked in Gadchiroli in 1999, and later worked in the arms making wing for a year.

He came to South Bastar after being appointed an area committee member in 2001, served as Commander of Usur and Konta LoS, was made DCM in 2005, and served as PLGA company-2 and company-3 Commander between 2006 and 2009, during which he took charge of the first battalion.

Hidma was selected as BN Committee secretary in 2011 and as the Dandakaranya Special Zonal Committee member in the same year. He was made the Maoist Secretariat member in 2020 and was promoted as SZC secretary as well as CCM in August 2024.

Abhay alleged that the ruling party media and pro-Modi intellectuals had portrayed Hidma as a villain for long and were continuing the same after killing him. However, Hidma would remain in the hearts of people like, and Alluri Sitarama Raju, he noted, while calling for a nation-wide bandh on November 23 in protest against his killing.
