AP rice miller defaults payment of Rs 60 cr to farmers
Farmers from the Telugu states on Tuesday were seen gathering in front of the residence of the owner of Pallavi rice mill Viswanatham near Rama Mandiram in the city in the morning.
Vijayawada: A rice miller in Enikepadu near here who has defaulted payment to farmers to the tune of Rs.60 crore, is said to be absconding.
Farmers from the Telugu states on Tuesday were seen gathering in front of the residence of the owner of Pallavi rice mill Viswanatham near Rama Mandiram in the city in the morning. The latter had allegedly purchased paddy worth Rs.60 crore but failed to make the payments.
He had reached an agreement for paying Rs.25 crore to 54 farmers and traders in 2015 but did not honour the commitment. The farmers who arrived from East and West Godavari districts, Nellore, Guntur, Prakasam, Krishna, Khammam and Suryapet areas, were shocked when they found the house locked.
