Visakhapatnam: Former minister and Telugu Desam Party MLA Ganta Srinivasa Rao has resigned to protest privatisation of the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant.

He sent his resignation letter to the Speaker of Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly, Tammineni Sitaram on Saturday. Srinivasa Rao’s resignation will come into effect the moment the Centre’s decision to privatise the steel plant is implemented, it is said.

The proposed move to privatise the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (RINL) is being opposed by local people and huge rallies were taken out yesterday in protest against the Centre’s decision to privatise the steel plant.
