Visakhapatnam: There was a gas leak in one of the units of Jawaharlal Nehru Pharma City in Parawada area here on Thursday, which saw panic-stricken workers running for safety. Many complained of suffocation and the residents of Tadi village even staged a protest in front of the factory. They alleged that they faced similar problems in the past as well and that the management of the factory did not follow the norms. They demanded an assurance from the company that there was no danger to life. CPM state secretariat member Ch. Narasinga Rao demanded a thorough probe into the gas leak incident and appropriate action on the factory, Admiron Life Sciences Private Limited. “Tadi villagers are the worst sufferers. They have been seeking shifting of their village for the past 15 years and we demand the government to act on this immediately besides ensuring all safety measures are implemented in the industries,” he said.
