Hyderabad: Apollo Cancer Centre (ACC), Hyderabad on Friday announced launch of noninvasive thermal ablation procedure to treat benign and malignant thyroid nodules, which are small lumps in thyroid glands.
Traditional surgeries to remove such lumps involve risk of permanent hypothyroidism, visible surgical scars, and potential complications such as damage to the recurrent laryngeal nerve, which can lead to voice changes.
The advanced, noninvasive thermal ablation techniques, including Microwave Ablation (MWA) and Radiofrequency Ablation (RFA) performed under ultrasound guidance, selectively target and treat thyroid nodules without affecting the surrounding healthy tissue. The new procedures will provide patients with safer, scar-free, and efficient alternative to traditional thyroid surgery, Dr. Siddhartha Chakravarthy, Endocrine & Breast Surgeon, Apollo Cancer Centre, said.
Dr. Ravindra Babu, Director Medical Services, Apollo Cancer Center, Telangana Region said thermal ablation for thyroid nodules reflects our commitment to safer, minimally invasive, and patient-friendly solutions.
