Hyderabad: A complaint was lodged by Apollo Hospitals management over an alleged deliberate damage to an aircraft (private jet) owned by the company which was parked at the Hyderabad (Begumpet) airport.
The incident which is suspected to have occurred in April this year came to light after Chief Security Officer of Apollo Hospitals – Jagjeet Singh lodged a formal complaint with the Begumpet police here on Thursday.
According to Begumpet police, the aircraft registered as VT-PCR, was parked at Begumpet Airport for a two-week period in April. During this time, on one occasion when the Chairman of Apollo Group, Prathap C.Reddy was about to take off in the aircraft, the hospital’s security team discovered deliberate damage to certain components of the aircraft.
It is learnt that although the damaged items fell under the Minimum Equipment List (MEL) requirements, the aircraft was allowed to take off and reached Chennai. However, on landing in Chennai, the staff discovered additional damage to the aircraft’s engine, wires and avionics.
Jagjeet Singh in his complaint said that though the matter was taken to the notice of the Begumpet Airport Director and the Chief Security Officer, there has been no response.
Based on the complaint, the Begumpet police booked a case and took up investigation.
“It is a high security area and the entire spot where the aircrafts are parked is covered with surveillance cameras. We are examining the footage. Based on further investigation, those responsible will be identified and necessary action taken,” said a police official.
