Hyderabad: Rajya Sabha member and BJP OBC Morcha National president K Laxman demanded that Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy publicly apologise to the farmers for cheating them by not fulfilling the promises made to them.

Speaking to the media here on Sunday, Laxman said the Congress failed to provide crop loan waiver to all the farmers, it failed to provide Rs 500 bonus per quintal on every crop and now it had reduced the Rythu Bharosa amount from Rs 15,000 per acre to Rs 12,000. “Congress promised to provide Rs. 7,500 per acre per season under Rythu Bharosa, but it has been reduced to Rs 6,000. This is evidence of the Congress’s deceitful attitude,” he alleged.

The total number of farmers who received loan waiver amount so far is 25.35 lakh and still 16.65 lakh farmers were waiting for the loan amount, he said, adding that the Congress had lost the farmers’ trust by not fulfilling the promises. “Telangana farmers will not forgive this betrayal. They will teach the Congress a befitting lesson at the right time,” he said.

Meanwhile, BJP Legislative Party Leader A Maheshwar Reddy criticised the State Cabinet for not giving clarity on the issue of implementation of various promises made in the Six Guarantees. “There is no clarity on when the government will increase the old age pension from Rs 2,000 to Rs 4,000, unemployment allowance of Rs 2,500 and similar amount to women as monthly financial assistance. The government has gone back on all the promises made to the people of the State,” he alleged.
