APTH condemns death sentence to 10 Maoists in Jhiram Valley attack case

APTH, an unidentified revolutionary organisation, condemned the death sentence given to 10 Maoists convicted in the 2013 Jhiram Valley attack. The organisation accused the Union Government of using the judiciary to suppress movements and warned of strong opposition from people.

Medak: APTH, an unidentified revolutionary body, condemned the death sentence given to 10 Maoists who were convicted in the Jhiram Valley attack of 2013, in which 27 people were killed and several others injured. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) Court, Jagadalpur, Chhattisgarh, convicted the 10 accused in the case and sentenced them to death.

Purportedly written by the APTH leader Alexander, the letter was left at the entrance gate of Toopran municipality by pasting it on a red cloth. The letter also had a hammer and sickle symbol. The APTH accused the Union Government of using the judicial system as a weapon to suppress people who were fighting for a public cause.

Terming the 10 Maoists as revolutionaries who fought against the anti-people policies, the APTH termed the judgement as a murder of the State. The organisation said that the State was planning to suppress the movement with such punishments. However, the APTH wrote that such attempts would further attract strong opposition from the people in the days to come.

The Toopran police recovered the letter and registered a case. The police were going through CCTV footage to identify the man who placed the letter at the place. Meanwhile, the APTH also claimed that it had written a similar letter raising its voice against the government’s attempt to suppress the movement when Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy visited Medaram a few months ago. The letter sparked a discussion among the locals and police.
