Siddipet: A-21-year-old Army Jawan from Siddipet district went missing after boarding a train from New Delhi to Faridkot in Punjab during the intervening hours of December 5 and 6.
The Jawan was identified as Bukuri Sai Kiran Reddy, a resident of Pothireddypally village in Cheriyal Mandal. According to his schedule, Sai Kiran Reddy had to report to Captain Nikhil Sharma (Punjab Regiment) on December 6. When his father Patel Reddy tried to call him on December 6, Sai Kiran was not reachable. Meanwhile, Nikhil Sharma also called Patel Reddy to inform him that Sai Kiran did not report at the Regiment on December 7.
Worried by his son going missing mysteriously, Patel Reddy approached Siddipet Police who spoke with Delhi Airport terminal AIG. The Airport Authorities, who went through the CC footage at the airport, said Sai Kiran was seen leaving the airport on December 5 late at night. He along with another Jawan and local Doctor Manish Sharma travelled by a local train to reach Faridkot. On December 6 early morning, the Jawan and the doctor got down at Bathinda, but Sai Kiran failed to join the Regiment at Faridkot. The investigation officials said the last location on the basis of mobile phone signal was at Jakan in Haryana on December 6.
Meanwhile, Finance Minister T Harish Rao and Commissioner of Police D Joel Davis also spoke with various officials to know the progress of investigation into the missing case.
Patel Reddy said that Sai Kiran, who joined the Regiment six months ago after completing the mandatory training, had reached home on November 16 on a 20 day leave. Since he had to report to Faridkot on December 6, Sai Kiran caught a flight at Shamshabad Airport at 9 PM on December but failed to reach Faridkot. Patel Reddy approached Cheriyal police on December 10, and they registered a Zero FIR.
Additional DCP (Administration) Srinivasulu, Inspector (Cheriyal) Srinivas Reddy, SI Narendra Reddy addressed a press conference in Siddipet on this issue.
