Hyderabad: Sri Vishnu Educational Society (SVES) launched VISTA Quiz, a new inter-school quiz series conceived as a continuing circuit of competitions culminating in a grand finale. The inaugural competition, held in Hyderabad, featured 14 schools participating, and it was themed “India and the World.”
The Army Public School Bolarum emerged as the winner, with Saint Paul’s High School finishing second and Abhaya School securing third place. The contest remained closely fought until the end, with Army Public School Bolarum finishing just two points — equivalent to one correctly answered question — ahead of St Paul’s High School.
The third-place position was decided through a tie-break between Abhaya School and The Hyderabad Public School, Ramanthapur, with Abhaya School emerging victorious.
The winning team was presented with a Rs 20,000 cash prize, while the second- and third-placed teams received Rs 15,000 and Rs 10,000, respectively. All participating students received participation certificates, and every participating school was presented with a token of appreciation.
The idea for VISTA grew out of the long-standing passion for quizzing of SVES Chairman KV Vishnu Raju. Inaugurating the event, he fondly recalled his own association with Hyderabad’s vibrant quizzing culture, including his involvement with K-Circle from the late 1970s onwards and the Young Orators Club. He remained present throughout the quiz and later interacted with students, teachers and parents.
