Around 10,000 devotees throng Nagoba temple on third day of Jatara

Adilabad: Around 10,000 devotees visited the ancient Nagoba temple and performed special prayers at the shrine on the third day of the Nagoba jatara, an annual religious and cultural affair of members of Mesram clan at Keslapur village in Indervelli mandal on Wednesday.
With devotees arriving at the temple from several States like Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and other parts of the country, serpentine queue was witnessed at the temple since morning on Wednesday.
In the meantime, Mesrams performed rituals to Persa Pen, the supreme deity, on the third day of the jatara, under the guidance of Seer Mesram Venkat Rao, priests Katoda Mesram Koserao, Mesram Hanumanth, Pradhan Mesram Dadarao and Kotwal Mesram Tirupathi. Women presented Naivedyam to the deities and took part in the rituals.
Kumram Bheem Asifabad Zilla Parishad chairperson Kova Laxmi and District Library Corporation chairman Kanaka Yadarao were among the VIPs who offered special prayers at the shrine. Speaking on the occasion, Kova Laxmi stated that the government was giving importance to protect tribal culture and traditions by allocating adequate funds and added that basic amenities were improved at the temple apart from constructing a meeting hall here.
Utnoor Inspector Saida Rao told Telangana Today that around 10,000 devotees visited the temple on Wednesday. A total of 500 policemen from Mancherial, Nirmal and Kumram Bheem Asifabad districts were deployed to prevent any untoward incidents at the shrine, he said and added that CCTV surveillance was in place to keep a tab on trouble makers.
