Hyderabad: Elaborate arrangements have made for ‘Chhath Puja’ from Tuesday till November 11 in the city.
As part of the exercise, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has marked 42 places near lakes and works have commenced at these places for smooth conduct of the festival. Arranging pandals, tents and shamianas, illumination, drinking water arrangements and temporary change rooms and washrooms are some of the amenities that will be made available.
The festival is mostly celebrated by people hailing from Bihar, Jharkhand and parts of Uttar Pradesh. The list of places where Chhath puja arrangements have been made was tweeted by Urban Development Special Chief Secretary Arvind Kumar, who said lakhs of devotees are expected.
Currently, the baby ponds are being dewatered and fresh water is being filled into it. Cleaning activities near these 42 lakes are also underway. GHMC officials said arrangements were made based on requests from the people.
“We have also arranged a mike set following the request of people who will celebrate Chhath puja at Bathukamma Ghat, Tank Bund,” said S Srinivas , GHMC executive engineer (Musheerabad circle).
GHMC deputy engineer Ramesh monitoring works at the artificial pond near Durgam Cheruvu said clean water would be filled in the artificial pond and timely measures would be taken to ensure people have a hassle free experience.
