Hyderabad: All arrangements for the grand conduct of the Mahankali Bonalu festivities on July 25 were being put in place, Animal Husbandry Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav has said.
The Minister, who along with Deputy Speaker Padma Rao Goud, reviewed the arrangements at Sri Mahankali temple in Secunderabad on Wednesday, said that in view of devotees in large numbers expected to visit the temple for Bonalu, all the line departments have been instructed to make necessary preparations.
Last year, the annual Mahankali Bonalu celebrations were not held due to the Covid-19 pandemic. However, following the instructions of Chief Minister K.Chandrashekhar Rao to organise the festivities on a grand scale, all required arrangements were being made, he said.
Barricades will bet set up to streamline the flow of devotees and ensure comfortable darshan of the deity and the water board officials will distributing drinking water sachets. All the roads leading to the temple will be repaired, sanitised and sprayed with sodium hypchloride. The Minister directed GHMC zonal commissioner Srinivas Reddy to take care of the road works.
Bonalu will be celebrated on July followed by Rangam on July 26. Traffic ACP Vinod was asked to put in place road diversions to ensure devotees and others do not face any traffic related issues. Srinivas Yadav also instructed the police to issue special photo id cards to devotees who come forward to work as volunteers during the festivities. The State government has sanctioned Rs .15 crore for arrangements during the Bonalu celebrations in the city.
Speaking on the occasion, Padma Rao said that after formation of Telangana, the State government has been taking lead in ensuring that people of all faiths happily celebrate their festivals.
The review meeting was attended by corporators Maheshwari, Suchitra, Deepika, GHMC zonal commissioner Srinivas Reddy, Additional Collector Venkateswarulu, DM&HO Dr.Venkat, Endowments Deputy Commissioner Ramakrishna, Temple EO Mahender Reddy and others.
