Arrangements in place for MLC polls in Nalgonda

Nalgonda: All arrangements have been completed for conducting of the polling for Warangal-Khammam-Nalgonda graduates MLC elections, from 8 am to 4 pm on Sunday in the district. Ballot papers, ballot boxes and other materials were handed over to polling staff at Distribution and Reception Centres (DRC) set up in NG College at Nalgonda, in SV College of Suryapet district and Government Junior College in Yadadri-Bhongir district for the purpose of conducting polling in erstwhile Nalgonda district. Along with the voting material, the polling staff went to their allocated polling station in specially arranged buses with police security.
Speaking to the media at DRC, Returning Officer and Nalgonda district Collector Prashant Jeevan Patil said that the polling of graduates MLC elections of Warangal-Khammam-Nalgonda graduates MLC constituency would be conducted in 12 district with the total electors are 5,05,565. Reminding that there were 71 candidates contesting in the MLC elections, he said that it was not possible to use normal ballot boxes for the polling and hence, jumbo ballot boxes were being used. The voting percentage is expected to increase in comparision with the previous MLC elections as number of voters also increased significantly. Hence, it was decided to take up counting of the votes with 56 tables instead of earlier 20 tables in Telangana State Warehouse Corporation godown at Nalgonda.
In all, about 10,000 employees were deputed for polling duty in erstwhile Nalgonda district (Suryapet, Nalgonda and Yadadri-Bhongir districts).
Superintendent of Police A V Ranganath said that arrangements were completed for webcasting of polling process in sensitive polling stations. Necessary security arrangements were made at 130 polling stations in Nalgonda district. About 1,117 policemen including two Superintendents of Police, two Additional Superintendent of Police(ASPs), five Deputy Superintendents of Police(DSPs), 29 Circle Inspectors(CIs), 56 Sub-Inspectors(Sis), 124 Assistant Sub-Inspectors(ASIs), 210 constables, 564 women constables and home guards would be deputed for elections during on the day of polling.
