Hyderabad: BJP MP Dharmapuri Arvind on Sunday faced the wrath of the people at Gannaram village in Indalwai mandal in Nizamabad district when he came to take part in a few developmental programmes.

TRS activists and local villagers chased Arvind’s vehicle asking him to go back as he had failed to fulfill his election promises. This triggered tension in the village for a while.

The irate activists and villagers asked Arvind to take necessary steps to set up turmeric board in the district. They said Arvind promised to establish the board in the district for the benefit of those cultivating turmeric during the Parliament elections in 2019.

However, Arvind did nothing to fulfill his election promise. Angered by his failure, villagers surrounded him on Sunday when he came to inaugurate a few developmental works in Gannaram village.

The villagers raised slogans against Arvind demanding that he go back from Gannaram village. On seeing this, Arvind’s supporters also raised slogans triggering tension in the village. Sensing that the situation might go out of control, the police resorted to lathi-charge and dispersed the two warring groups.

The police posted a special picket in the village to prevent any untoward incident.
