Hyderabad: Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao lashed out at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for betraying the people of Telangana during his one-year tenure as Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha. He criticised Gandhi for failing to raise any of Telangana’s key issues in Parliament, including the unfulfilled promises of the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2014.
“From national status to an irrigation project to the Bayyaram steel plant and other promises, Rahul Gandhi has not once raised Telangana’s burning issues,” he said.
Taking to X, Rama Rao charged Gandhi with turning a blind eye to Andhra Pradesh’s controversial Banakacherla project, which threatens to divert Godavari waters away from Telangana farmers. He said the Congress leader’s silence on the Banakacherla project was an indication of his complicity.
“After peddling hollow 420 promises in Telangana’s Assembly polls, he vanished like a shadow, leaving Congress to bask in power while Telangana’s aspirations rot,” he added.
