Hyderabad: AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi on Sunday urged Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy to halt the proposed shifting of vegetable and fruit market at Gudimalkapur here, saying the move will affect the livelihood of about 10,000 families.

He alleged that the proposed relocation was against the provisions of Market Act 1966, he said.

In a post on X, the Hyderabad MP said, “Janab @revanth_anumula kindly immediately stop the proposed shifting of Guddimalkapur Vegetable & Flower to Aziz Nagar in RR District. This market caters to people of South & West Hyderabad District,it will affect the livelihood of nearly 10 thousand families.”

According to him, the Chairman of Market Committee wants to shift it “for no reason”.

Drawing the attention of state Chief Secretary Sanjay Jaju, he pointed out that the market was shifted from Sabzi Mandi at Karwan in 1991 to Gudimalkapur in Hyderabad district.

He claimed that in the last two years, many government offices have been shifted from “South and West Hyderabad” and argued that shifting the market would be unjust and send a wrong message.
