Hyderabad: The State police have reviewed the security of all All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen legislators following the attack on AIMIM party chief Asaduddin Owaisi.
The City Police and the Intelligence Security Wing (ISW) provide security to AIMIM MLAs and MLCs. Except Owaisi, all the elected party leaders have security cover.
The police higher-ups maintain that Asaduddin Owaisi refused the security cover on several instances previously.
His younger brother and Chandrayangutta MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi is provided ‘Y’ category security which entails him five PSOs and an escort of the headquarters. At any point of time, Owaisi is guarded by at least 8 to 10 gunmen. He also had a ‘Bullet Resistant’ (BR) vehicle allotted to him.
The other MLAs and MLCs have either one or two PSOs round-the-clock.
Intelligence officials and the local police also visited the party headquarters and reviewed the security arrangements. Officials also inspected the surroundings of the houses of the leaders and suggested some extra security measures for a couple of leaders.
