Hyderabad: Australian premier spinner Nathan Lyon came in support of turning tracks on Indian subcontinent and said he would love to see the pitches turn like they did in Chennai and Motera.
He also said people are making a big issue about the nature of the pitch while the pitches in Australia and England favour pacers. Joining him was his fellow teammate Ashton Agar who said he loved watching cricket in subcontinent and Axar Patel bowl on these turning wickets.
“I love watching cricket in the subcontinent. That is the greatest cricket to watch in the subcontinent as a spinner. Pretty exciting stuff, hopefully, the pitches stay that way in the subcontinent. It makes for really exciting cricket,” he said.
He said he is in awe of Axar’s bowling. “Loved watching Axar Patel bowl. He was able to just hit the shiny side of the ball and get a few to go off the wicket. That’s the most lethal one because you are expecting them to turn so much. He would have got maybe ten of his wickets in the last couple of Tests with the straighter ones,” he added.
