Kumram Bheem Asifabad: A tiger reportedly attacked a herd of sheep at Ippal Navegaon village in Asifabad mandal, triggering panic among locals on Sunday. This is the third consecutive day that a tiger attack is being reported in the district, with one woman killed on Friday and a farmer injured on Saturday.
Locals said that a tiger tried to kill a sheep by attacking the herd grazing in the forests near the village. They stated that the tiger, however, left the sheep and slipped into nearby forests when the shepherd raised an alarm. They requested the Forest officials to take steps to track the movement of the tiger and to prevent human loss.
Movement of the tiger which killed a farm labourer Morle Lakhsmi (21) from Gannaram at Easgaon village in Kagaznagar mandal on Friday and attacked Rauthu Suresh of Dubbagudem village in Sirpur (T) mandal on Saturday has become a cause for concern for around 50 villages in these two mandals. Dwellers from forest fringe villages in Penchikalpet and Bejjur mandals are living in the grip of fear following the movement of another tiger named K8 as well.
Section 144 of CrPC was already enforced in 15 villages of Kagaznagar. Villagers were asked to follow a standard operating procedure to avoid attack by the tiger. They were advised not to enter forests and not take up farm activities before 10 am.
