Kumram Bheem Asifabad: Finance Minister T Harish Rao said that steps would be taken to create medical college in the district headquarters soon. He along with forest minister A Indrakaran Reddy laid the foundation stone to a modern district headquarters hospital, and radiology lab and inaugurated a pediatric care unit on the premises of the existing district headquarters hospital here on Friday. The estimated cost of 340-bedded hospital was Rs 60 crore.
Speaking on the occasion, Harish Rao said that better healthcare services were being provided to the public, following creation of Telangana. He said that quantum of medical colleges has gone from three to 15 in the past seven years, indicating growth of medical education. He assured that buildings would be granted to newly created gram panchayats soon. Earlier, the minister inspected primary health centres in Jainoor, Kerameri and Utnoor mandal centres.
Asifabad MLA Athram Sakku, Zilla Parishad Chairperson Kova Laxmi, Sirpur (T) MLA Koneru Konappa, MLC Dande Vittal and Collector Rahul Raj were present.
