American Telugu Association has organized an International Literary Conference on Saturday.
Hyderabad: Literature, through pages or films, plays a major role in developing a society. Celebrating the same, the American Telugu Association hosted the International Literary Conference here on December 11.
Renowned writers KS Shivareddy, Nandini Siddhareddy and B Narsing Rao delivered the inaugural address at the event. As part of the programme, Tollywood writers and directors including Lakshmi Bhupala, Venu Udugula, Karuna Kumar, Lakshmi Soujanya, Uday Gurrala and Aparna Kollur discussed about the ‘Telugu Katha Screenplay’, where they shared their thoughts about the connection of Telugu literature and Tollywood movie scripts. The discussion was hosted by director and producer C Umamaheswararao.
Noted Telugu short story writer and social commentator Kuppili Padma hosted the panel discussion ‘Novel of our time’, with the panelists Bandi Narayanaswamy, Madhurantakam Narendra and Bommadevara Nagakumari Unudurthi Sudhakar. Another important discussion about the need and problems during translating novels, ‘Translation-Necessary’, was also organised.
A poetry festival ‘New Colours on the Poetic Canvas’ was hosted by poet Koduri Vijay Kumar. Several poets from the two States including Mana Manasa Chamarthi, Tugulla Gopal, Siddhartha Katta, Arunank Lata, Ramesh Karthik Nayak and Nasreen Khan, took part and recited their poems.
According to the organizers, ATA member Madhu Bommineni will take over as the president of ATA Elect, ATA Celebrations and ATA Seva Days Chair.
