Nalgonda: A three-member gang allegedly involved in cloning ATM cards of gullible people was busted with the arrest of three persons by the Nalgonda police on Saturday. The authorities have seized Rs 5 lakh, machines used for cloning ATM cards and some dummy ATM cards from thier possession.
Disclosing the details to newsmen here on Saturday, the Nalgonda DSP Venkateshwar Reddy said the arrested were Omprakash, Bijender and Ashok from Bihar. They came to Nalgonda district to work as contract employees in Damaracherla Thermal Power Plant.

The gangsters cheated 15 guillible persons in the guise of helping them to withdraw money from the ATMs at different places in the district. They used to target illiterate people who come to ATMs to withdraw money. In the guise of helping them, they take their ATM cards and copy the details on an MSR machine. Their modus operandi was to swipe the card on the machine which woud grab the details of the cards. They used to memorise the pin number and using the stolen data, they would clone the cards and withdraw money from the accounts of the ATM card holders.
After receiving a complaint from a farmer from Kajiramaram that money was withdrawn from his account, without his notice, Nalgonda Town-II police began the investigation and identified the cyber criminals after examining the CCTV camera footage at the ATM centre. The police took three persons into the custody from a place in Miryalaguda and shifted them to Nalgonda. The arrested persons confessed to their involvement in 15 such cases in which they withdrew Rs 7 lakh. Circle Inspector Chandrasekhar Reddy, Sub Inspectors D Narsimhulu and Yadagiri were also present.
