Attendance low in Telangana schools after reopening
Out of 17,778 schools in the State, 16,662 have reopened for physical classes and of the total 13.24 lakh enrollments in these schools, 2.58 lakh have attended the classes on Friday
Hyderabad: Two days after schools reopened for Classes 6 to 8 across the State, a total of 20 per cent attendance was recorded on Friday. Out of 17,778 schools in the State, 16,662 have reopened for physical classes and of the total 13.24 lakh enrollments in these schools, 2.58 lakh have attended the classes on Friday.
According to details released by the Directorate of School Education, all government and local schools i.e., 7,986 have reopened and registered 22 per cent attendance. Similarly, in 8,676 private schools, which have reopened out of 9,792, 18 per cent of students turned up for classes.
The State government had permitted all schools under various managements to commence physical classwork for classes 6 to 8 from February 24 and latest by March 1. Earlier, the government announced physical classes for class 9 and above from February 1.
A total of 72 per cent of students of Classes 9, 10 and intermediate have attended the classes on Friday in 11,747 schools and residential institutions under the directorate.
