Hyderabad: A person, who was allegedly involved in six attention diversion cases, was arrested by the SR Nagar police on Monday. The police recovered Rs 95,000 from him.
The arrested I Rama Rao (27), a resident of KPHB colony and native of East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh had gone to an ATM centre at SR Nagar earlier this month where he allegedly duped a man of Rs 1 lakh.
“Rama Rao met the victim who came to deposit Rs 1 lakh and convinced him that he needed the amount for some emergency and instead would transfer the total amount to the bank account of the victim. After collecting the money, he sent a text message to the victim and told him that the sum was transferred to the bank account and left the place. The victim realised later that he was duped,” SR Nagar Inspector K Saidulu said, adding that Rao had admitted that he was involved in six cases and duped people of Rs 12.09 lakh.
He was arrested earlier in similar cases in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
