Hyderabad: Hyderabad-based electric vehicle maker Atumobile expanded its manufacturing capacity by setting up a new facility in Patancheru, Hyderabad. With the addition of the new unit, the company has increased its production capacity from 25,000 units per annum to 3.5 lakh units per annum.
Atumobile set up its first unit in Patancheru in 2020. The new facility is the first-of-its kind manufacturing unit powered by ATUM Solar Roof, the World’s first electricity generating roof, making the entire factory, a Net Zero facility.
The new factory spread over 20,000 sq ft area will manufacture Atum 1.0, a low-speed new generation electric bike and subsequent models ready to be in circulation in the coming months.
Vamsi Gaddam, founder and MD, Atumobile said, “Increasing the production capacity of Atum EVs can not only help further the company’s own green initiative but can also help transform India into a sustainable and environmentally responsible nation.”
Market opportunities
The company’s first bike model, Atum 1.0 is priced at Rs 54,999 (exclusive of tax) and requires no license or registration as its top speed is 25 km/h and is thus suitable for 16-year-old and above. The bike comes with a 48V 250W motor, a 3-pin portable battery and 14-litre boot space.
The company received a design patent last year for its unique design, which leads to a sportier riding posture, for the shape of the tank which has a 14-litre storage capacity and for its body structure.
As the high-speed variants’ demand is high in the market, the company will also be launching Atum 1.1 with a 50 km speed and Atum 2.0 with a 70 km speed in a few months’ time. Additionally, the company is aiming for 5 per cent market share in 2022 with its upcoming models, he added.
Atumobile introduced doorstep bike delivery for its customers, and recently launched Service-On-Wheels, a doorstep servicing facility for any bike related repairs.
