Warangal: Officials of the endowments, revenue, municipal, police and other departments are making all arrangements for the smooth conduct of the Mallanna (Mallikharjuna Swamy) Brahmostavams at the Inavolu (Inavole) village in Hanamkonda district which are scheduled for four days from January 13 at this Kakatiya era temple.

The temple, which is said to have been constructed in the 12 th century by Ayyanna Deva during the rule of the mighty Kakatiyas, has distinct features like Keerthi Thoranams (Giant entrance gates). While the Keerthi Thoranam seen at Padmakshi temple in Hanamkonda city was the oldest known Thoranam built by Kakatiyas, the Thoranams were later constructed at the Inavolu temple and subsequently at the famous Warangal Fort in Warangal city.

According to the official sources, amenities such as queues, sanitation, toilets (both makeshift and permanent ones), pandals, drinking water, and dress changing rooms, and expansion of the roads have been taken up at a cost of Rs 21 crore in view of the jatara.

“All the arrangements will be finished by January 10,” said an official, adding that Minister Errabelli Dayakar Rao, and people’s representatives like MLAs, MLCs, and MPs from the erstwhile Warangal district would visit the temple during the Brahmostavam (Jatara). Meanwhile, police department under the guidance of Warangal police commissioner Dr Tarun Joshi is making foolproof security arrangements to avoid untoward incidents during the jatara.

Speaking to Telangana Today, Mamnoor ACP A Naresh Kumar said that more than 450 policemen would be deployed at the temple for four days as a part of the bandobast.

“These personnel will work in two shifts. As per the directions of the CP, CCS teams and SHE teams will also be pressed into duty during the jatara days,” he said, adding that 100 CCTV cameras had been installed on the premises of the temple and in the village. “We have also made special arrangements for the parking of the vehicles, and VIPs.

We expect around seven lakh devotees will visit the temple in four days,” the ACP added. He, however, appealed to the pilgrims to follow the Covid-19 protocol during the festivities as the cases of the Covid-19 are on high rise due to Omicron variant.
