Sangareddy: Andole MLA Chanti Kranthi Kiran has described State BJP president and Karimanagar MP Bandi Sanjay Kumar’s padayatra as a luxury ride. “He spends the nights and takes rest breaks in air-conditioned vehicles,” he said.
Speaking to the media in Andole on Sunday, the MLA alleged that even the food for Sanjay was being prepared by chefs from five star hotels.
Stating that the BJP president was not interested in finding out public issues during his Praja Sangrama Yatra, Kranthi Kiran said Sanjay was restricting his yatra to just national highways. “Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao walked 40 to 50 km a day during his padayatra in 2002 after forming TRS. Sanjay took three days to complete 20 km in Andole Assembly constituency. While Chandrasekhar Rao used to meet people living in remote areas during his padayatra, Sanjay does not meet people, leave alone gathering information on issues faced by them,” he said, adding : “How can we call it Praja Sangrama Yatra?”
The legislator said BJP was mobilising people from neighbouring districts since there was no crowd at Sanjay’s meetings. Criticising the BJP leader for claiming that roads in Jogipet town were damaged, Kranthi Kiran said the road was actually a national road that comes under the purview of Union government. “He must be aware that it is his party which is in power at the Centre,” he said, adding that the yatra will nor serve any purpose. He also pointed out that Sanjay had failed to get even a rupee for TS from the Centre.
Kranthi Kiran said the BJP Yatra could not attract even the 2,000 people who had voted for BJP candidate P Babu Mohan in the 2018 elections. Demanding that Sanjay stop making comments against the Chief Minister using objectionable language, he said the BJP leader should know that several schemes introduced by Chandrashekhar Rao had been praised by the Centre and BJP leaders.
