Automobile theft suspect attempts self-immolation at Kulsumpura police station
Mild tension prevailed at Kulsumpura police station in Hyderabad after an automobile theft suspect allegedly attempted self-immolation on the premises. Police said the accused tried to threaten personnel by attempting to set his shirt on fire, but the attempt was foiled in time.
Hyderabad: Mild tension prevailed at the Kulsumpura police station after a suspect allegedly involved in automobile theft cases tried to self-immolate on the premises on Wednesday.
Police said Mohd Ishaq is involved in several automobile theft cases registered at Kulsumpura and other police stations across the city.
He was caught during vehicle checking on Tuesday night and kept at the police station for further procedures.
However, on Wednesday morning, while going to the bathroom, Ishaq allegedly picked up a matchbox and, with the intention of threatening police personnel at the station, attempted to set his shirt on fire. His attempt was thwarted, and he was taken into custody.
