Hyderabad: To create awareness on heart ailments among the younger population and encourage a healthy living, Aware Gleneagles Global Hospitals on Wednesday organised a 5K walkathon.

Fitness enthusiasts, senior doctors from the hospitals, nurses, paramedics and non-clinical administration staff took part in the 5K walk, which started at Gleneagles Global Hospitals and covered many localities in the vicinity at Lakdikapul.

Dr. Satwinder Singh Sabharwal, COO, Aware Gleneagles Global Hospital said, “Covid-19 pandemic has shifted our focus away from more serious and impending ailments like the cardiovascular diseases. Each year, millions of people die to preventable reasons, and it is important for those involved in the healthcare delivery system spread awareness about these problems. The number of young people suffering from heart ailments is increasing, and it is important we spread awareness on the problem and help them overcome the problem.”

The walkathon was also aimed at uniting people from all backgrounds in the fight against the burden of cardiovascular diseases and encourage heart-healthy living, he added.
