Sangareddy: As the temperatures were all set dip to single digit in Hyderabad and parts of Telangana in the second week of December, the Animal Warriors Conservation Society (AWCS) in collaboration with Rak Social Group, an NGO, has decided to help the street dogs to have a warm sleep during the nights.
They had readied some 20 cosy cabins for the street dogs using the plastic drums. The drums will have warm winter blankets. To protect these cabins from stealing, the AWCS will tie them to a tree located close by with a chain. The AWCS has distributed some 20 cabins in Manikonda, Alwal and Miyapur which their volunteers will monitor time-to-time.
Like humans, AWCS founder Pradeep Nair said, the dogs will also struggle during the winter, particularly at night due to lack of shelters. He said that many of them will die unable to bear low temperatures.
Saying that they have decided to place these 20 cabins on pilot basis in three different locations, Pradeep said that they wanted to expand their services. He has called upon the industrialists to donate pallets, which the industries would usually discard after receiving materials and plastic drums, which they can be redesigned into sleeping cabins for street dogs.
The industrialists who are willing to donate such materials can reach out to them at phone number: 9697887888.
The volunteers of AWCS will directly visit such industries and take them to their rehabilitation centre to make necessary changes to turn them into a bed.
