Health Minister Eatala Rajender says vacant teaching posts in Ayush wing will be filled-up in coming months
Hyderabad: In its attempt to make Indian medicine accessible to general public, the health department on Saturday has decided to provide Ayush services across all Primary Health Centres (PHCs) in Telangana.
It has also been decided to convert all Ayush dispensaries into wellness centres. At present, there are 440 Ayush dispensaries across the State operated by the State government and another 394 dispensaries operational under National Rural Health Mission (NRHM), which will be converted into wellness centres.
Those Ayush dispensaries where patient footfall is less will be merged with nearest PHCs, Health Minister, Eatala Rajender on Saturday said. “All vacant teaching posts in Ayush wing will be filled-up in the coming months. A special task force has been set up to conduct a thorough study and prepare a blueprint for development of Ayush,” he said.
At a review meeting which held a discussion on the need to fill-up vacant posts across all medical wings including TVVP, Ayush, DME, DPH and TSMSIDC, Rajender said Chief Minister, K Chandrashekhar Rao is keen on strengthening all the health wings in the State. Discussions were also held on ensuring 90 per cent of the patients are given health care services at Primary and Community Health Centres, Area and District Hospitals and only patients with complicated heath conditions are referred to tertiary teaching hospitals.
Long pending systemic challenges in Telangana Vaidya Vidhan Parishad, Director of Public Health (DPH), TSMSIDC were also discussed. Rajender directed health officials to address the bottlenecks so that recruitment can be taken up across all the medical departments.
“There is a need to treat patients walking into government hospitals like VIPs. Proper communication channels, counselling and reception facilities have to be established,” he said.
Director of Medical Education (DME), Dr K Ramesh Reddy, in-charge Director of Ayush, Prashanti, Director Public of Health, Dr G Srinivasa Rao, TSMSIDC, MD, Chandrashekhar Reddy, VC, Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences (KNR UHS), Dr Karunakar Reddy, Dr Gangadhar and senior officials from all medical wings were present.
