Hyderabad: As the IPL auction ended on Thursday there was disappointment in Hyderabad cricket circles as Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) did not have a single player from the city.
However, off-spin all-rounder Bhagat Verma, who was not in the Hyderabad team for the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 tournament, was roped in by Chennai Super Kings for Rs 20 lakh. Verma was a former under-19 India player. Fast bowler C Yudhvir Singh, who made his Ranji Trophy debut for Hyderabad in the 2019-20 season, was brought in by Mumbai Indians for Rs 20 lakh.
There was disappointment for young India under-19 left-hander Thakur Tilak Verma, who failed to attract any franchises. Hyderabad Cricket Association president Mohammad Azharuddin hit out at SRH for ignoring Hyderabad players in the auction.
“It is sad that Sunrisers did not sign a single player from Hyderabad. They should have selected a young player like Tilak Verma in the team. It is disappointing indeed.”
