Azhar questions appointment of Shivlal as HCA representative
This statement comes a day after Vijayanand had announced the appointment of Shivlal Yadav as representative of HCA to the virtual meeting of BCCI's SGM on May 29
Hyderabad: Controversies continue to haunt Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) even as president Mohammed Azharuddin has termed another comedy show unravelled by secretary R Vijayanand in the latest episode of the on-going soap opera of the association.
This statement comes a day after Vijayanand had announced the appointment of Shivlal Yadav as representative of HCA to the virtual meeting of BCCI’s SGM on May 29.
The former Indian captain said he was surprised to see Shivlal Yadav, a former Test off-spinner, being appointed as HCA representative to the BCCI. “With all due respect to my senior colleague in the cricketing arena, he has completed 17 years of cumulative tenure as an office bearer as below: Joint Secretary, HCA: 1992-2000: Secretary, HCA: 2000-2008.’’
He said this information is available on the HCA website and in the roll of honour displayed in the annals of the HCA office at Uppal. “If one does a finger counting of the number of years Shivlal Yadav has served in the HCA in a leadership role (office bearer) the count is approximately 18 years. Rule 6(5)(f) of the constitution states “A person shall be disqualified from being a representative to the BCCI if he/she has been an office bearer of a State Association or the BCCI for a cumulative period of 9 years”.
Azhar questioned the appointment of Shivlal Yadav. “Please tell me if he qualifies under 6(5)(f) to be appointed? Is this not a reflection of the quality of cricket administrators of Hyderabad?…’’
