B Sumathi takes charge as Malkajgiri Police Commissioner

B. Sumathi, a senior IPS officer, has taken charge as Police Commissioner of Malkajgiri Commissionerate. She prioritised tackling crimes against women and children, cybercrime, narcotics control, citizen security, and traffic management.

Hyderabad: Senior IPS officer B. Sumathi assumed charge as the Police Commissioner, Malkajgiri Commissionerate on Friday.

Speaking after taking charge, Sumathi said her focus would be on curbing crime against women and children, cybercrime and stricter enforcement on narcotics. Apart from increasing the response system in police stations, the security of citizens and improving the traffic flow on the commissionerate roads will be on focus, she said.


Sumathi, earlier held the position of IGP, Special Intelligence Bureau and played a pivotal role in negotiating with the Maoist leaders and cadre to join the mainstream.
