When Malik checked for his luggage after he alighted from the bus at Ameerpet here in the city on Tuesday, the bag carrying ornaments was reportedly missing.
He immediately informed his employer Shravan Gehlot, who came to the city and lodged a complaint with Saifabad police. They booked a Zero FIR and transferred the case to Punjagutta on the basis of jurisdiction.
The Punjagutta police investigating the case have formed special teams and sent them to Mumbai and Rajasthan, where they are examining the CCTV footage from the point where Malik boarded the bus. They suspect the gold was stolen in Mumbai or within Maharashtra and had not reached Hyderabad.
“The facts in the complaint are being verified with the help of technical support. The quantity of the missing gold needs to be verified too. The role of insider is also suspected and we are probing the case from all possible angles,” said an official from Punjagutta police.
