Bala Krishna’s Akhanda 2: Thaandavam begins shooting at Maha Kumbh Mela

Hyderabad: The shooting for Akhanda 2: Thaandavam, the sequel to the 2021 blockbuster Akhanda, has officially started at the Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj.
The film is directed by Boyapati Srinu, who previously delivered hits like Simha, Legend and Akhanda with Balakrishna. It is produced by Nandamuri Tejaswini, Balakrishna’s younger daughter, along with Ram Achanta and Gopi Achanta under the 14 Reels banner. Thaman is composing the music.
Reports suggest that Akhanda 2 is being made on a big budget and is set to release on September 25, 2025.

Earlier this year, Balakrishna appeared in Daaku Maharaj, which was released on January 12, 2025, for Sankranti. Directed by Bobby, the film received mixed reviews.
Balakrishna and Pragya Jaiswal played the lead roles in Akhanda, while the cast also includes Srikanth, Poorna, Jagapathi Babu, Nithin Mehta, Ayyappa Sharma, Rao Ramesh and others in pivotal roles.
Apart from the leads, details about the sequels’ cast and crew are yet to be revealed.
