Mancherial: BRS district president Balka Suman flayed the government for failing to extend support to the kin of four farmers who were killed in two different incidents in Luxettipet mandal in May. He was speaking at a programme organised by the BRS to provide financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh each to the families of three farmers in Luxettipet on Tuesday.

Speaking on the occasion, Suman said the four farmers died due to the government’s negligence in procuring paddy. He recalled that BRS senior leader Jeevan Reddy and former Mancherial MLA N Diwakar Rao staged a protest and tried to exert pressure on the government. However, the government had not responded to either the protest or the deaths so far.

Suman said Rama Rao came forward to extend financial support to the families of the farmers after learning about their plight. He said Rao had been questioning the government over its failures for the past two and a half years and had stood by victims across Telangana. He alleged that Rao was being targeted by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy for raising his voice against the government.

The district president said Revanth Reddy, rattled by the BRS working president, was using the police to book cases against Rao for exposing the government’s failures. He said no case would deter Rao from continuing his fight against the government. Rao would soon launch a movement in support of farmers, coal miners and jobseekers, he added.

He regretted that the SCCL was grappling with a slew of challenges such as delays in conducting medical board meetings, delays in offering jobs to dependents and discrepancies in coal production.
