Adilabad: BRS leader Balka Suman reiterated that the party would continue to fight against the government over farmers’ problems. He, along with former minister Jogu Ramanna and MLA Anil Jadhav, unveiled wall posters for the BRS meeting scheduled for November 1 here on Wednesday.
Suman said former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao had constructed irrigation projects such as Kaleshwaram, Palamuru and Chanaka-Korata with a vision. The projects were playing a vital role in irrigating crops and greatly benefiting farmers amid El Niño weather conditions, he remarked.
Suman alleged that the Congress government was releasing water into projects in Andhra Pradesh, fearing that the credit would go to Chandrashekhar Rao. He accused Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy of undermining farmers’ confidence by advising them against growing crops and declaring that power outages meant crops would not receive water.
The BRS Mancherial district president said the crisis faced by Telangana farmers had been caused by the Congress and its policies. Only farmers in the State were facing such problems, even as Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka were also reeling under drought conditions. He demanded that the government extend support to farmers immediately.
Ramanna said the BRS would exert pressure through the meeting titled Raithu Garjana. He said the party would demand the implementation of Raithu Bandhu and Bheema, an annual payment of Rs 15,000 to tenant farmers, timely supply of fertilisers and a full-fledged crop loan waiver. He urged people to turn up in large numbers and make the meeting a success.
