Bandi Sai Bageerath surrenders to Hyderabad police, to be produced in court
Bandi Sai Bageerath, accused in the Petbasheerabad POCSO case, surrendered before police on Saturday, ending days of speculation over his whereabouts. His surrender came a day after the Telangana High Court refused interim bail, and he is expected to be produced before court and later sent to judicial custody.

Hyderabad: The suspect in the Petbasheerabad POCSO case, Bandi Sai Bageerath surrendered before the police on Saturday ending week-long suspense over his whereabouts.
According to reports, accompanied by his legal team, Sai Bageerath came to the police station and surrendered before the investigating officer of the case. He will shortly be produced before the local court for further legal proceedings.
The Telangana High Court on Friday had refused interim bail in the case to Sai Bageerath while the plea for ‘anticipatory bail’ was posted to Thursday.
The police had earlier issued a Look out Circular, against Sai Bageerath as his family had failed to present him before the police after two notices were issued to them.
Following the development, the security outside the Petbasheerabad police station and the Medchal Court Complex was beefed up. However, Sai Bageerath, is likely to be produced before the magistrate at his residence. He will later be moved to the Central Prison Cherlapally for judicial custody.
A case was registered against Sai Bageerath, at Petbasheerabad police station after the victim’s mother approached the police alleging the suspect had sexually abused and inappropriately behaved with the girl on several occasions. The police after recording the statement of the girl altered the sections of the case to more serious charges including sexual assault.
After the case was registered, the Petbasheerabad police had issued notices to Dr. Vamshi Krishna, maternal uncle of Sai Bageerath. The police had asked Dr. Vamshi, to present Sai Bageerath before the police. However, the notices were not complied with. The suspect was at the house of his uncle and used his mobile phone from there before switching off the gadget and went into hiding.
The police teams conducted searches at various places including Hyderabad, Karimnagar, Delhi and Bengaluru on information that Sai Bageerath, is hiding there.
