Karimnagar: Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister K T Rama Rao came out with his guns blazing against the BJP in general and the saffron party’s State president Bandi Sanjay Kumar for indulging in divisive politics and doing nothing for Telangana.
“Except for abusing Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao and provoking the youth in the name of religion, what has Sanjay done for the welfare of the people during the last three years of his tenure as Karimnagar MP?” Rama Rao asked of the BJP president.
Stating that Sanjay’s win as MP was through sheer luck, the Minister challenged the former to contest the Karimnagar Assembly seat against BC Welfare and Municipal Administration Minister Gangula Kamalakar in the next elections, and prove his mettle. He also appealed to the people to reelect Gangula Kamalka with at least a one lakh margin in the next election.
Stating that religion help feed people, Rama Rao said Telangana was one of the four states that are providing food to the entire nation. “And this was made possible by the visionary decisions of the Chief Minister,” he said, adding that BJP and the union Ministers were inefficient and ineffective as leaders and government. “People should stop believing in the BJP leaders,” Rama Rao said addressing a public meeting at Markfed grounds after laying the foundation stone for development works costing Rs 1,065 crore including the Manair River Front development and 24×7 drinking water supply here on Thursday.
“Sanjay was elected as MP from Karimnagar Parliamentary constituency three years ago, but has not even taken up works worth Rs 3 crore in Karimnagar town. Leave alone Karimnagar town, the MP has not done anything in the seven Assembly constituencies of Karimnagar Parliamentary seat,” he said.
The MP, he said, never took up the issue of the Centre according national project status for Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme, the biggest such project in the world. Weavers have been demanding the setting up of a mega powerloom cluster in Sircilla for the past eight years, but Sanjay never broached the subject in Parliament,” he pointed out.
“Sanjay failed to fulfill the desire of weavers to establish block level clusters in Huzurabad and Jammikunta, besides not taking any initiative for Nedunur gas plant that got stalled midway after the government acquired lands from farmers,” Rama Rao pointed out.
Slamming the BJP leader for not getting even a single educational institution to Karimnager, the Minister pointed out that the State government, on the other hand, had sanctioned a medical college for Karimangar. “The State government has been demanding sanction of IIIT for Karimnagar but there again, the MP failed to do anything. If he is interested in the welfare of youth, he should have ensured that Karimnagar gets educational institutions instead of provoking them in the name of religion,” he said.
