Hyderabad: Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay on Tuesday claimed that the statements made by BRS working president KT Rama Rao in the legal notice that he served on him were “baseless and devoid of merit”.
Bandi Sanjay, who sent the reply through his lawyer, asked Rama Rao to withdraw the legal notice, the allegations made in it and to issue a public apology within seven days. He also threatened to issue a legal notice if he failed to do so. The counsel emphasised that Sanjay’s statements were not directed at Rama Rao personally and argued that the press conference addressed broader concerns related to issues faced by students in Telangana.
Sanjay claimed that the allegations made against Rama Rao were neither “defamatory nor baseless” and that there was no intent to tarnish the reputation of the BRS leader. He clarified that he never mentioned Rama Rao’s name during the press meet.
On October 23, Rama Rao had sent a defamation notice to Bandi Sanjay for making false and defamatory comments, including claims that he consumed drugs and was involved in ‘phone tapping’ during the BRS’s tenure.
