Hyderabad: Cutting across the party lines, political leaders from the ruling TRS, Congress and Left parties slammed BJP State president Bandi Sanjay for carrying union Home Minister Amit Shah’s footwear at Ujjaini Mahankali temple in Secunderabad.
A video of Bandi Sanjay rushing to fetch footwear of the union Home Minister, who had visited the temple on Sunday, has gone viral on the social media and the BJP leader was trolled by all sections for the act.
Industries Minister and TRS working president KT Rama Rao tweeted that Telangana people were observing Gujarati ‘slaves’, who carry Delhi shoes and a leader, who is fighting against the Delhi leaders
The Minister further tweeted that all sections of society were ready to counter and reject all those who insult Telangana’s self-respect and protect the State’s self-esteem.
“The speed and focus in bringing slippers shows tomorrow BJP will keep our state at the feet of Amit Shah… Beware Telangana,” tweeted TSMDC Chairman and TRS leader M Krishank.
Echoing similar views, CPI National Secretary K Narayana lashed out at Bandi Sanjay for carrying the shoes of the union Home Minister. “It is a shame. How can BJP leaders, who carry footwear, criticise us. We are principled and to ensure your defeat, we joined hands with Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao and will work with others as well,” he said.
AICC Telangana incharge Manickam Tagore too found fault with the BJP State president. He tweeted “Telangana BJP State president Sanjay Bandi takes shoes of Amit Shah. Telugu vari Atma Gauravam. What’s the position of the backward class leader in BJP see the truth?”
“Bandi kept the Telugu self-respect at the feet of a former tadipaar,” read a tweet from TPCC’s official handle.
Like politicians, many others too raised objections to the BJP State president’s act. Shamsher Dahiya, a twitter user tweeted “This party is having prizes for such people I.e. Ghulam Ratan, Ghulam Shree, Ghulam Vibhushan etc”
Meanwhile, defending his action, Bandi Sanjay said in his tweet, “We provide footwear only with respect..! We don’t have the habit of pulling the feet of others. We are not “Ghulam” – we are not the descendants of Rajakars, who salute the Majlis.”
He said the people were observing the diversionary political tactics in the State.
“Telangana is keenly observing the actions of such leaders,” he said, adding that the Telangana society would thwart the attempts of such leaders.
