Hyderabad: A woman doctor from Banjara Hills was cheated of Rs 10 lakh by cyber fraudsters who allegedly lured her with promises of high returns through an online trading platform.
According to the police, the victim came across an online trading advertisement and later received messages on WhatsApp from individuals claiming to be investment advisors.
“She initially invested Rs 10,000 and was shown fake profits on a digital dashboard, gaining her confidence. Encouraged by the returns, she transferred Rs 10 lakh as further investment. However, when she attempted to withdraw the amount, the option was blocked and the fraudsters stopped responding,” police said.
Realising she had been duped, the doctor approached the Hyderabad cybercrime police and lodged a complaint. The case is being investigated.
