Banjara Hills police arrest gang for abducting and blackmailing man after pub visit
Hyderabad police arrested a gang, including a woman, for abducting, robbing, and blackmailing a man after a pub visit. The accused filmed compromising visuals of the victim while he was unconscious and demanded ₹10 lakh, police said.
Hyderabad: The Banjara Hills police arrested a group of people including a woman on charges of abducting, robbing and blackmailing a man after visiting a pub.
The incident occurred on July 19, when the 46-year-old man was abducted, robbed, and blackmailed by unknown individuals after a night out at a pub. The victim, who works as an accountant at a jewellery store in Banjara Hills, went on a bike-taxi to a pub in Kukatpally, where he met his friend named Dimple and he consumed alcohol.
After the pub closed around midnight, Dimple agreed to drop him back to his parked bike on her scooter. However, while enroute and nearing NFCL junction in Banjara Hills, two unidentified men intercepted them, dragged him into a car, and covered his face with a cloth. He was allegedly rendered unconscious.
The abductors robbed his Bluetooth device, watch, wallet, gold ornaments and mobile phone. They then took him to an unknown location.
On July 20, the group booked an auto and one of them accompanied the victim to his residence. However, they stopped around 500 meters away from his home and took away his phone again, demanding Rs 10 lakhs in cash.
Upon reaching home, the complainant discovered that during the time he was unconscious, the perpetrators had allegedly filmed obscene videos and taken compromising photos of him with a woman, using his own phone, for blackmail purposes.
The police have registered a case and nabbed the group involved in the crime on Thursday and remanded.
